Junction Festival Needs Your Help
The Clonmel Junction Festival is looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals who are willing to help out during the Festival which takes place this year from July 4th to 12th. A typical volunteer schedule would include at least four 3 hour events and some availability before the start of the Festival would be an advantage. This experience is guaranteed to be rewarding, as you will meet new people and partake in challenging activities. If short-listed, you will be required to attend a short interview and at least two briefing meetings. Volunteering is a marvellous way to explore possible career options. It enables you to sample a work field without making a long-term commitment to it. This allows you to discover whether or not you like the work or are good at it — and if you discover it's not for you, you can move on to something else. Eventually, volunteering can lead you to a paying job—by providing contacts, references, and something tangible to show on your resume. For new graduates, volunteering can place you a notch above your fellow students. Your volunteer work will demonstrate that you have practical skills, can function in a work environment, and care about your community. Community service shows prospective employers that you not only want to make a change in your job, but that you have already made a change and now want to expand your "extracurricular" activities into a full-time career. If you have been out of the workforce for a while, volunteering is a way back into the work place. It gives you the opportunity to develop self-confidence and prove that your skills are still alive. There will be four different areas of volunteers this year at the festival. If you are interested in applying, you can select what areas you would have an interest in. The four areas and duties involved are descibed below: - Chadwicks Festival HQ - café and play lounge supervision, ushering, maintenance, general tidy up, interface with the public, any other duty as required by the venue
- Front of House and Box Office team - setting up seating, welcoming and ushering people, selling and checking, tickets at venue entrance, any other duties as required by the event
- Café Carte Blanche - assisting in the set-up and running of shop venues in collaboration with designated artists, maintenance, upkeep & tidying of café area, serving drinks and any other duties as required by the project
- Production Assistance - to assist the production crew with the installation, running, and taking down of equipment, and any other duties as required by the production crew
Volunteering with the festival has lots of perks including free entry into gigs and theatre shows, entry into the festival club every night and a much coveted festival tee shirt.
