The Writing Room by Mia Gallagher
| | Writers, readers and booklovers of all age and size are invited to drop in for a selection of literature related activities. On offer are workshops, presentations, reading opportunities, quiet Writing Time, one-to-one mentoring with a practising writer and a Morning Salon, where we invite you to share ideas on just about anything literary or cultural! The focus is on writing in its broadest sense – from poetry to blogging.
The Writing Room is a flexible and fluid space: A calendar of events will be posted up every day on the dedicated sandwich board outside each venue, alerting you to any changes and surprises in the schedule. If you have ideas or suggestions for a session, let us know and we will do our best to fit them in. On offer Signing up for the once-off Junction Book Club (selected book is Claire Kilroy’s wonderful ‘All Names Have Been Changed’) Setting up appointments to discuss your work with café host, novelist Mia Gallagher. (Space for individual consultations will be made within café hours and is therefore limited, so if you’d like to avail of Mia’s time & expertise, contact us as soon as possible. Children over 9years are also invited to set up one-to-one sessions with Mia.) Signing up for the Open Mic and Shared Reading sessions. Popping in with your laptop and/or notebook and/or current reading material to avail of the Quiet Space the café offers. Bringing your ideas about absolutely everything to the Talking Shop!

Her short fiction has been published in the US, the UK and Ireland, was shortlisted for the Hennessy Award and in 2005 won the South Tipperary Chapbook Award. Her debut novel ‘HellFire’, described by The Guardian as ‘a grand achievement’ was published by Penguin in 2006.
