Book Club with Maggie Armstrong

This year’s Book Club choice is author Maggie Armstrong, shortlisted for Newcomer of the Year at the Irish Book Awards, who will talk about her debut short story collection, Old Romantics, published by Tramp Press in 2024 and in 2025 in Canada by Biblioasis and shortlisted for the Kate O’Brien Award. Her stories and essays have appeared in the Dublin Review, Banshee, the Stinging Fly and Belfield Literary Review.

In 2023 her Dublin Review short story ‘Dinner and a Show’ was long-listed for an Irish Book Award. Her essay ‘High Speed’ appears in PVA’s 2025 anthology, In the Good Seats: Essays on Cinema. A former journalist, she lives in Dublin with her children.
